A dajak sun hat, used by women, collected in Sarawak in the 50's.

Beautifull piece of dayak art, covered in fabric, decorated with colorful beads.

The panel in the centre is a nine pointed star, with in the centre a nice tassel ending in hornbill feathers.

 

Diameter: 53 cm


Provenance: Collected in the early 50's at the Redjang river in Sarawak, by an english 1st engineer who was situated in Sibu.

The photo depicted above of the handsome lady was taken on the same trip by the collector of the sun hat.
