19th century Borneo war shield.
Thick wooden shield, with rattan bindings for reinforcement to prevent the shield from splitting caused by heavy sword blows, with one thick rattan strip nailed over the length in the middle.
Signs of use and very good patina on the handle.

Provenance: Old Dutch private possession.
Condition:
Rattan in good condition with no damage, one "usual" crack as can be seen in the photos (25 cm long) / overall signs of use.
