SIKIN PEUSANGAN

A sikin peusangan from Aceh, with huge ivory crosspiece and silver decorated scabbard, dd. 1870 or earlier.

Handle:

Horn hulu Pasangan type of handle (length: 12,5 cm, wide: 6,5 cm).

Scabbard:

Totally covered in silver, with floral design and with an unknown text (length of silver scabbard: 51 cm).

At the scabbardmouth there is a huge elephant ivory cross piece, decorated from all sides with carvings.

The carvings are filled with black mastic. (length: 14 cm, height: 5,5 cm, thick: 4 cm).

Blade: Strong thick laminated blade. (length 56,5 cm till the horn handle).

Total length: 70,5 cm
