A sikin peusangan from Aceh, with huge ivory crosspiece and silver decorated scabbard, 1870 or earlier.
Total length: 78 cm
Handle:
Horn hulu rumpung type (length: 12 cm, wide: 5 cm).
Tripple tampo's (golden crowns) (3,5 cm high and 3 cm wide) with blue and green enamel (one golden protrusion missing at the bottom side).
Scabbard:
Totally covered in silver fully decorated with floral design on both sides (length of silver scabbard: 59,5 cm).
At the scabbardmouth there is a huge elephant ivory cross piece in mint condition without break offs, only very small chips from wear, decorated from all sides with carvings.
The carvings are filled with black mastic. (length: 13 cm, height: 4 cm, thick: 3,5 cm).
Blade: Strong thick laminated blade decorated with golden inlay at the bolster and spine of the blade. (length 55 cm till the tripple tampo's).

Provenance:
In the 70's purchased from Aalderink Oriental Art and Ethnographica, situated at the Spiegelgracht in Amsterdam, since 1929.
Since then it stayed for decades in a Swedish weapon collection, and finally ended up in one of the biggest high end Aceh collection (from a Dutch collector) a few years ago.
This sikin was the center piece of that collection.
