JAVANESE KLEWANG

An old heavy Javanese sword, dated: May 1870

Total length:  77,5 cm

Hilt:

Horn handle with silver endcap, ferrule, handguard and chains / Shape in Javanese style but with a Dutch flavour considering the ribbed grip.

Scabbard:

Wooden scabbard, covered in leather with old patina / silver scabbardmouth and top sleeve / here again Javanese style with a Dutch touch.

Blade:

Indigeneous heavy blade with beautifull laminations / stamped with a "Dutch" date: MEI 1870 (Dutch for MAY 1870) / Upward curvature and fuller along the back / 61 cm long / 10 mm thick at the spine near the base.

In very good condition considering its age!
