RENCONG

A rare type of rencong from Aceh, 1870 or earlier.

Total length: 38,5 cm

Handle:

Hulu puntung / Extremely rare glupa crowns (very rarely seen on rencongs), two pikes missing / Bi colour hippo ivory handle.

Scabbard:

Wooden scabbard / Both sides show floral decorations / Length: 26 cm).

Blade:

Strong thick laminated blade decorated with rests of golden inlay at the bolster and spine of the blade. (length 23,5 cm from tip up to the golden crowns).

Condition:

Good, except for the two missing golden pikes. Also no enamel rests left and inlay at the blade's bolster are remnants.

These kind of glupa crowns are very rarely seen on rencongs, and very wanted in Aceh collections because of the rareness / Because of the few shortcomings, this rare item is for sale against a most reasonable price.
