MURUT SWORD

A sword of the Murut tribes, former English North-Borneo, 19th century.

Hilt:

Typically forked wooden handle in very good condition / brass sleeve / rattan with losses.

Scabbard:

Wooden scabbard in mint condition / Glossy dark patina / Brass mountings / Intricate belt made of human hair, with original brass belthook and -ring / Bark sideknifescabbard.

Blade:

A laminated forged strong blade / Engravings at the spine from base to tip / Big upward curve / 66 cm long / 8 mm thick at the base.
