Old Javanese wedung, 19th century.
Total length: 36 cm.
Hilt:
Pentagonal hilt, made from fossil mammoth tooth.
Relatively to the blade, the hilt is twisted and has some minor "not working" cracks and a small chip missing (as seen on photos).
Blade:
Perfect fit / Sturdy blade / Concave on both sides / Forged with nice pamor.
Sheath:
Wooden scabbard with large dark horn "hook" at the back (to hitch the wedung onto the belt).
This hook is attached with three silver bands.
Additional Info:
The wedung is carried in the kraton (palace) as a symbol of servitude to the sultan and personal decoration.
