Old Kutai jimpul, East Borneo, around 1880, in very good condition.
Hilt:
Fine carved antler hilt, with good old patina and traces of age and use.
Braided ratan around the handle in very good condition, resin damar ring missing.
Remnants of the original dyed goat hair attached around the nose.
Blade:
Sturdy uncleaned blade, with original blunt tip.
Sheath:
Wooden scabbard with modest carvings and three rattan knots used to keep the two slabs of wood together.
Bone mouthpiece missing.
Complete with sideknifescabbard (sideknife missing).
Bark sideknifescabbard covered in old leather, and decorated with red-, white- and black dyed goathair, an animal tooth, and a tuft of hair at the tip.
The multi colour rattan belt is in mint condition, with a wooden "teardrop" shaped belt buckle.
