Ancient siwaih, Gayo/Alas area (N-Sumatra),  1870 or earlier.


Hilt:

 

Ivory pomegranate shaped hilt, with suassa crown / ferrule typicall Gayo style.

The Ivory is damaged through age, handling and rodents.

The suassa crown is all intact, and only a small part of the suassa is missing at the ferrule .

 

Hilt Measurements (Ivory & suassa): 8.0 cm long , 3.5 cm at the widest and 3 cm thick.



 Sheath:

Scabbard covered with silver, and decorated at the tip and entrance. 

Mouthpiece is missing.

  

Sheath Measurements

length 29.5 cm,

width 25 mm at the entrance and 15 mm at the tip,

thick 18 mm at the entrance and 14 mm at the tip.



Blade:

 

Sturdy and thick uncleaned blade, some pitting at the base.



Additional Info:

 

Extremely scarce  item , from a  most interesting area.

Highly recommended and for a small price because of the  mentioned imperfections.
