Hilt:
Large antler hilt, with very nice carvings such as the openworked spiral and most interesting face with a row of teeth at each side and a curled tongue in between. The creature also has clearly carved limbs (curly claws and curved legs).
The handle is adorned with braided rattan, and on top with tufts of human hair (black and partly dyed in red).
At both sides there is a smaller tuft of hair adornment.
Hilt Measurements: 13 cm long , 9 cm at the widest and 3 cm thick.
Sheath:
Wooden scabbard, consisting of two slabs of wood, of which the frontpiece is of dark tropical hard wood, held together with braided rattan - and fiber bands. A piece of leather is attached under the tumpal.
Tumpal carvings with a leech protruding at the top, and two large flower - and one circular motifs in between, ending in a leech motif.
The carvings are filled with a white (original) calcareous substance.
The crescent motif at the scabbardtip is also filled with this white substance.
The rattan belt is complete and with cotton cord.
Sheath Measurements:
length 58 cm, width 6 cm at the widest, thick 3.1 cm at the entrance.
Blade:
Sturdy, very thick and super heavy plain blade.
Very functional, sharp and in mint condition.
