Sikin Peusangan Aceh with Gayo features, dd. 1870 or earlier.
Hilt:
Horn hulu Tumpang Beunteung, good old patina, worn and no break offs, one usual crack of age (stable and not working).
The hilt has a suassa "glupa" crown. One of a kind, as there is not a second piece known with a suassa crown like this. Normally these kind of crowns are made of gold instead of suassa.
The hilt is 13 cm long, 6.5 cm at the widest.
Sheath:
Wooden scabbard with silver mountings. The mounting at the scabbardmouth is decorated with a suassa bulge (on both sides). The silverwork is only cleaned shallowly, and the silver bands are uncleaned to keep the black patina.
The scabbardmouth (crosspiece) is made of elephant ivory, decorated with floral designs (filled with black mastic). The crosspiece has a nice old glossy patina.
(Measurements crosspiece: length 15.8 cm, height 5.7 cm, thick 4.4 cm).
Condition:
Scabbard and ivory crosspiece are both in perfect condition considering its age!
Blade:
Strong sturdy fullered blade, with signs of heavy use in battle at the edge.
